HS2 has reached another major construction milestone with the structural completion of the 700m-long Burton Green tunnel in Warwickshire, after engineers installed the final roof segment on the cut-and-cover structure.
The latest breakthrough marks completion of U2/17-21 consortium’s two tunnel drives.
“The main design envisions a double-bore tunnel, with separate lanes for each direction and a technical emergency corridor,” one report says.
